In 1958, as part of the dedication ceremony for a new elementary school, a group of students is asked to draw pictures to be stored in a time capsule. But one mysterious girl fills her sheet of paper with rows of apparently random numbers instead.
Fifty years later, a new generation of students examines the capsule's contents and the girl's cryptic message ends up in the hands of young Caleb Koestler. But it is Caleb's father, professor John Koestler (Nicolas Cage), who makes the startling discovery that the encoded message predicts with pinpoint accuracy the dates, death tolls and coordinates of every major disaster of the past 50 years. As John further unravels the document's chilling secrets, he realizes the document foretells three additional events - the last of which hints at destruction on a global scale and seems to somehow involve Ted and his son. When Ted's attempts to alert the authorities fall on deaf ears, he takes it upon himself to try to prevent more destruction from taking place.
With the reluctant help of Diana Wayland (Rose Byrne) and Abby Wayland, the daughter and granddaughter of the now-deceased author of the prophecies, Ted's increasingly desperate efforts take him on a heart-pounding race against time until he finds himself facing the ultimate disaster - and the ultimate sacrifice.

Synopsis:
A major stock exchange in the world, Hong Kong attracts not only money but also many who try to manipulate the market. At the Hong Kong Police Force Commercial Crime Bureau, an operation is under way against insider trading involving Feng Hua International, a listed company. A man nicknamed the “Boss” is behind it all, and identified as the chief suspect.
The interception team at the Criminal Intelligence Bureau is sent in. Led by Inspector Johnny Leung (by Lau Ching-wan), the team has veteran cop Gene Yeung (by Louis Koo) and the young rookie Max Lam (by Daniel Wu). They infiltrate Feng Hua International to install interception devices and start to monitor the company’s phone traffic.
A month goes by and nothing significant has been intercepted. The three are bored and morale is low when they overhear the management’s plan to boost the share price. As Gene and Max are desperately in need of money, Johnny unwillingly withholds this information from his supervisors. The two decide to make the most of this opportunity and buy heavily on the company’s shares with a huge sum of money borrowed from a loan shark. Johnny is furious when he learns this, but nothing can be done at this point to retrieve the money now locked up in the shares.
The share price of Feng Hua International has gone so high that trading is suspended. The three fail to retrieve the capital and are on the verge of turning against each other in face of the crisis. Meanwhile, Johnny catches a dispute in the company’s management. The Chairman, Ringo Low, is planning to sell high and cash out his shares; the other Board Directors decide to assassinate him in order to secure their interests. They seek help from the Boss.
Low’s life is at stake. However the trio is well aware that if he lives, the share price will plunge and not only their money, but their lives and even their families will be compromised. The three are torn between money, their future and justice. Finally, Johnny comes up with a perfect plan: to kidnap Low.
The abduction goes smoothly as planned. After what feels like the longest weekend in their lives, trading in Feng Hua International resumes and the price surges uncontrollably. Just when the three start to believe they have succeeded, the price plunges again. The unusual price fluctuations catch the attention of senior officials in the government and the Police Force, who have long been suspecting police involvement in the affair. The undercover operation is aborted; an investigation is ordered against the three cops – Johnny finds out about this as he counter-intercepts communication within the Bureau.

But that doesn’t stop Tom from going after her, again and again, like a modern Don Quixote, with all his might and courage. Suddenly, Tom is in love not just with a lovely, witty, intelligent woman – not that he minds any of that -- but with the very idea of Summer, the very idea of a love that still has the power to shock the heart and stop the world.

The story of RED CLIFF takes place in 208 AD in China during the Han Dynasty. Despite the presence of an emperor, Han Xiandi, China was then divided into many warring states.
The ambitious Prime Minister Cao Cao, by using the Emperor as his puppet, waged war on a kingdom in the west, Xu, ruled by the emperor’s uncle, Liu Bei. Cao Cao’s ultimate goal was to wipe out all the kingdoms and install himself as Emperor to a unified China. Liu Bei sent his military advisor Zhuge Liang as an envoy to the Wu Kingdom in the south, trying to persuade its ruler Sun Quan into joining forces. There he met Wu’s Viceroy Zhou Yu, and the two became friends amidst this uneasy alliance.
Enraged to learn that the two kingdoms have become allies, Cao Cao sent an army of eight hundred thousand soldiers and two thousand ships down south, hoping to kill two birds with one stone. Cao Cao’s army set up camp at Crow Forest, across the Yangtze River from Red Cliff, where the allies were stationed.
With the food supply running short, and the army vastly outnumbered by Cao Cao’s, the allies seemed doomed. Zhou Yu and Zhuge Liang had to rely on their combined wisdom to turn the tide of battle. Numerous battles of wits and forces, on land and on water, eventually culminated into the most famous battle in Chinese history, where two thousand ships were burned, and the course of China’s history was changed forever.
